Message from Executive DirectorSandra York
Sandra York

Welcome to a new PTA Year!

We start this year with many new faces on our Board of Directors – in particular, our new President, Mary DeYoung-Smith, who will take the helm and provide leadership for Michigan PTSA over the next two years.  Of course, we cannot move on without thanking 2007-2009 MPTSA President, Debbie Squires, for her service and dedication to PTA.

As many of you know, your state office has been through tremendous change in recent years.  Change is accompanied by both successes and challenges.  I am extremely excited that we are beginning to see the results of some behind the scenes planning that has been going on during the past year.  This e-Bulletin is one of those changes.

In an effort to keep up with changing times, be more responsive to feedback from our members, make the best use of resources available to us, and to be a more environmentally friendly association, we began our plan to become a more e-oriented organization.  Last year, we launched an enhanced e-communications program that allowed us to provide much more information directly to our members, yet in a more efficient, timely and cost-effective manner.  This included membership reminders, Reflections Newsletters, the Meeting Modules, event announcements and much, much more.

Now, The Bulletin, once a print publication, has evolved into the e-Bulletin and will arrive in your inbox every other month.  There will be relevant information, news and announcements on events, and legislative, membership and program sections – just to mention a few components.  Additionally, with this e-format we will be able to reach a larger audience that includes our partners throughout the state.

We are still at the beginning of the items on our To Do List.  As the year progresses, I look forward to being able to announce more changes and upgrades that better allow us to serve you and all of our members statewide.
