Waukazoo Elementary in Holland is a very engaged school, where families and staff come together as a team for the students. During the month of October, Waukazoo welcomed Michigan's PTA president, Teresa Marhofer, as their special guest. Teresa spent the evening listening in on a packed PTA meeting, where many new kindergarten parents were attending for the first time. The PTA members learned about the success of the school's annual Fun Run, in which students raised over $20,000 of straight donations to fund countless PTA events, field trips, and classroom and technology supplies. Three members of the West Ottawa School Board also sat in on the meeting and were pleased to hear about all of the exciting plans Waukazoo PTA has in store for this year. Teresa shared the benefits that PTA provides on the state and national level. She also discussed Watch D.O.G.S. with an eager father and Common Core with the school board. Parents definitely left the Waukazoo PTA meeting feeling energized for the 2014-2015 school year!
