2016 Slate of Nominees 

Vice President for Programs and Services:  Daveda Quinn

 

Daveda Quinn is the mother of four adult children and 7 grandchildren and lives in Jackson, Michigan. She has worked for the City of Jackson for 8 years as the Supervisor of the Industrial Pretreatment Program and for the last three years has also taken on the role of the Chemist of the Laboratory. Daveda has volunteered with the Michigan PTA serving in various positions at the local and State level for many years. Currently she is the VP of Programs and Services and Region G & H Field Representative. Daveda loves to take pictures, enjoys cooking and traveling.

Arina Bokas

I am the Editor and a Vice President of Kids’ Standard Magazine, the producer of Future of Learning public television series with Independence Television in Clarkston, Mich., as well as a faculty member in the department of English at Mott Community College. For the last five years, I have been serving my community as the President or Vice President of Clarkston Community Schools PTA Council and Bailey Lake Elementary PTA. I am a recipient of 2016 MEA Friend of Education Award and 2014 Michigan PTA Distinguished Service Award. I am an author and co-author of numerous articles and blog posts in national publications. I presented at Harvard's CASIE/Project Zero conferences nationally and internationally on school-parent-community partnerships and the concept of good writing. I also co-moderated #MichEd chat Parents as Partners.

Jenna McMechan

Jenna McMechan has been involved in PTA for 6 years. She has been an active volunteer for her local unit and has held the offices of President and Secretary. Jenna is currently the President of Garden City PTA Council and the Membership Chair for Garden City Elementary PTA. She is also serving on the Michigan PTA Convention Committee.

Jenna works for Garden City Public Schools as a Behavior Assistant at Memorial 1‑2 Campus. She is married to Drew McMechan. They are proud parents of a wonderful daughter.
