Processing Your Monthly Membership Remittance Online
We are there! The system for submitting your Unit/Council's membership (individual and business) completely online each month is now live and can be accessed on the website.
Earlier today, your President was sent login information for your Unit/Council. If you are a person that handles this, you will need to obtain that login information from your President to proceed.

In a continuing effort to maximize how we use staff and volunteer time to the best benefit of our members, we strongly encourage you to use the online process now or put a plan in place to do so in the near future. As questions come up, we will work with you...know that we are here to help! Please send questions to email@example.com, contact your Field Service Representative, or your VP for Outreach and Support, Kathy Carter, at OutreachSupportVP@michiganpta.org.
That said, I expect we may have a higher volume of questions these next few weeks. I will thank you in advance for your patience if you encounter a delay in response time.
A couple quick notes:
If you already submitted "manually" for this month or last, that is fine.
If you held July and August to submit together with September, that is also fine.
If you run into a challenge and it takes us a few days to assist you, we get it.
Also, in order to process membership cards via return e-mail fairly quickly, we need your Membership Roster as an Excel file (the form is online) and we need an e-mail address for each member. We are still developing the process for how we will facilitate membership cards when these criteria are not met. It will take a bit more time, however, we will keep you filled in on that plan (we are already working on it).

Update on Timing for New Submissions Process
I hope the new school year is off to a wonderful start for you!
Covering all bases for the new membership roster submission and online payment process has taken a bit longer than expected. My apologies for not having an e-mail to you last week with this update.
I know many of you are on top of preparing your September membership remittance and are anxious to check that off your "To Do List". An e-mail outlining next steps will be in your inbox by Friday.
A quick reminder that the first step is filling in the Membership Roster - those details are outlined in my August 28th update (below).
NOTE: An adjustment has been made to the Membership Roster template to add a column for "Business Name". This column is only for business members and will save the need for a separate roster for business members.
NOTE: The attached Excel file may not open for you, however, the version on the website is fine. I apologize for this and am looking into the glitch.
UPDATE: After looking into this further, most people have been able to open the attachment. If not, it is likely a browser/setting issue on the user end that needs to be addressed, rather than an issue we can fix on our end.

Monthly Membership Rosters
Following up to my e-mail on August 7th (included below in case you missed it), things are moving along for implementation of the e-system for membership cards this year. Within two weeks the entire process will be live and you will have received complete information along the way outlining changes you need to be aware of.
The first step is related to the Membership Roster. Most units have already been submitting their membership roster in the Excel spreadsheet accessed on the Membership Chair Resources page on the Michigan PTA website. For others, this will be a bit of a change.
- Use the attached Excel file -OR -
Click on the link above or visit www.michiganpta.org and navigate to
Units/Councils > Information & Forms > Membership Chair Resources
Toward the bottom of the page you will find a link to the Membership Roster.
- If there is a box at the top that says Enable Editing, click on that box. You will now be able to enter information and save the file.
- Fill in information for all new members. It is important that we have names and e-mail addresses for members as they will now be receiving their membership card via e-mail.
- Save the file. This way you will have a copy for yourself and you will be able to submit the roster to the State Office. In the file name include the month, your Unit ID# and Unit Name.
EXAMPLE: Sep_010001_ALL PTA
This is where we will pause. I know that some of you just finished a membership drive or will hold one in early September and wanted to make sure you have this beginning information.
It is okay to hold and send August members with your September members. If you have already submitted an August remittance and roster, that is okay too.
Information on payment processing and submitting your roster will be sent in an update very soon. Thank you so much for your patience and cooperation as we implement this new system.

2015-2016 Membership Cards + Online Payments
In response to feedback from our members over the last few years and in keeping step with the times, we will be introducing an e-system for membership cards this year. No more membership cards jamming in the computer! No more running out of or requesting additional cards! No more returning unused cards! You will submit your new members online each month and we will take care of the rest.
Additionally, you will be able to submit payment for your members online!
We realize this is quite a change (maybe just for us old-timers) and on rather short notice. Our intent was to move to this new system next year, however, changes at National PTA that we received final details on last week made us revisit that timeline.
Historically, National PTA printed and provided membership cards to each of the states. This year that will not happen. States that choose to continue to use printed membership cards will need to absorb that cost.
In an effort to be good stewards of available funds and to maximize the portion of revenue we allocate to member services and programs, we decided to move to the membership card e-system sooner rather than later.
This escalated timeline means we have a bit more work to do before we can officially launch the new system. Watch for specific details on how the process will work by early September.
Also, we need to ask for your patience and cooperation. New systems rarely run perfectly and there are likely to be glitches. We intend to embrace the glitches and turn them into fixes!
